Number of Fields in Complex:  6 Fields
General Comment:
There are 6 fields in the Mountain Valley complex. There is a traditional 4 plex and another 2 fields to the south down the hill that do not have complete fencing. At most tournaments played at this facility the lower fields are not used for tournament play, making for great places to take batting practice before games. 4 plex includes a bathroom structure in the middle and a snack bar as you enter the fields from the parking lot.
Spectator Experience:
Spectator Seating:  Spectator seeing is metal bleachers that are uncovered and exposed to the sun and other elements
Snack Bar/Restaurant:   ☒ YES ☐ NO
Comments:  At some tournaments food trucks come in to complement the food offered at the snack bar.
Restroom Locations:  Bathrooms are located at the center of the 4 plex. There didn’t appear to be restroom facilities at the lower two fields.
Playground For Kids:  ☒ YES ☐ NO
Picnic Area:  There are places to enjoy a picnic throughout the park
Other Park Amenities:  There is a water park/swimming pool at the park along with playgrounds and picnic/bbq areas that can accommodate large groups of people.
Spectator Experience Comments:
Prescott Valley sits at close to 6000’ elevation. On warm days it’s easy to get sunburned. Having uncovered bleachers at this facility is not great. During the heat of the day, spectators end up huddling around the small overhang of the bathroom building to escape the sun, making it uncomfortable to watch the game. Having a canopy and/or umbrella is a must if you are playing mid-day.
Player Experience:
Dug Out:  Dug outs are covered and comfortable for the entire team
Warm Up Area:  There are large warm up areas next to each field
Batting Cages:  YES       ☒ NO
Adjacent Fields for Hitting:  ☒ YES ☐ NO
Field Dimensions:  4 plex fields are 300’ symmetrical fields. The two fields below do not have fencing.
Field Conditions:  At the particular tourney at the time of this review (2018 AZ Western State Championships for SSUSA) the fields experienced significant rain. The fields held up (for the most part) and play was not affected. There are rough spots in outfield, but typical field conditions for a city-maintained field.
Scoreboard:  ☒ YES ☐ NO
Player Experience Comments:
There are scoreboards, but they were unused. Plenty of places to warm up and hitting options prior to the games if the two below fields are not in use. Because of altitude, 300’ fences are easily reachable for most players, so expect to see plenty of home runs when playing in Prescott Valley. While there are not traditional batting cages, there is a netted enclosure where you can use your tee between games, if so inclined.
Review Summary:
The Good:
1) Playing in altitude is fun!
2) Fields in above-average condition (normal city-maintained trouble spots)
3) Places to hit prior to games on lower fields (if not in use)
The Bad:
1) Uncovered bleachers left spectators scrambling for cover when sun came out
2) No fences on lower fields
The Ugly:
1) I personally hate playing at a complex with nice scoreboards that are not in use. Maybe this is just me, but it actually bothers me a lot. I have long felt that the association is lazy and/or does not care about teams/spectators when I see perfectly good scoreboards powered off.
